15 year old entrepreneur/filmmaker/social justice advocate wows industry panel
February 13th, 2014
Below is a copy of a letter we received about an extraordinary teenager that we just had to share with you
I'd like to introduce you to my daughter, Kasha, 15 year old social entrepreneur, photographer and aspiring filmmaker who recently took home a few accolades in what was called 'the dragons den of the film industry" pitch event for her idea.
She's going to create a travel documentary on global citizenship and will document stories of hope and resilience to inspire a new way to see the world. I've agreed to let her take one semester off of school to do this.
As goodwill ambassadors abroad, we'd like to involve mentors that reflect our socially conscious roots and well, for obvious reasons, Frank O'Dea , inspires us & just makes a lot of sense to have involved in this project!
Have a look at our recent indiegogo campaign where you'll see Kasha's spirit in action. She runs her own business and has always contributed part of the proceeds from the sale of her products toward charitable causes. She cares deeply about how women living in poverty can lift themselves out of it by running their own business. She also cares deeply about the issue of homelessness and has started to shoot an exhibition on this subject.
Some of the support behind our project include Spencer West, Author and motivational speaker from Free the Children and National Geographic photographer & travel writer Lola Akinmade Akerstrom. Both are acting as mentors because they believe in the power of youth leadership in action. The Global Sunrise Project is a platform for mentorship and we'd love if Frank would lend his personal story & expertise to it as well.
I invite you to have a look at what Kasha, The Sunrise Storyteller, has achieved to date and am including the indiegogo highlights report, links to the campaign, our newly launched website.
We're leaving in March for six months and our first stop will be to attend the United Nations as youth and mentor delegates to the 58th Commission on the Status of Women.
Kasha has worked solidly for a year toward creating this dream & really needs help catalyzing the funds necessary to make it a reality.
We look forward to your thoughts and hope you'll join the list of visionaries already supporting this project.
