Some of the least recognized heroes are companies that sponsor community events, like @unitedwaytnc such as @CoastKamloops Hotel and Canadian Western Bank.

In this case, the event is the 2015 Community Spirit Luncheon that is being held by the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo in Kamloops BC. on April 22.

In April, volunteers from across the region spent countless hours reviewing applications and interviewing local non-profits to determine where the greatest need is in their communities. We extend a huge, heartfelt thank you to these volunteers! Don’t miss our Community Spirit Luncheon on April 22, where we will share these investment decisions with the community.

There are five Community Funds: Kamloops, North Thompson, Cariboo, Merritt and Ashcroft/Logan Lake/Cache Creek, and we have established a Community Impact Council for each one of them. At United Way, the money raised in a community stays there and is invested by Community Impact Council members who serve as local United Way champions. They act as advocates, ambassadors and decision-makers for their communities and are known to be the eyes and ears on the ground for us. They let us know of emerging community issues, emergencies, connect us with leaders and resources and give us context when working locally.
